York City goalkeeper Ryan Whitley has joined Whitby Town on a month’s loan.

The eighteen-year-old youth-team prospect will remain at the Turnbull Ground until 2nd December.

Whitley signed a two-year contract with the Minstermen in August, and manager Martin Gray is keen for him to gain regular first-team experience.

He therefore links up with City winger Connor Smith, who is also currently on loan at Evo-Stik Premier Whitby, and could make an immediate debut against Stafford Rangers this weekend.

Whitby’s regular keeper Shane Bland has recently been placed on the transfer list at his own request having only signed a new two-year deal last summer – and they’ve already rejected an offer from an unnamed higher-ranked club.
