York City target Liam Darville has signed an emergency one-month loan for League One club Tranmere Rovers.

The 19-year-old Leeds United right-back appeared as a trialist in their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool earlier this week and impressed sufficiently to earn himself a temporary deal at Prenton Park.

Darville had previously done well during a similar recent spell at York, and their manager Martin Foyle had considered taking him on loan as cover for newcomer Duane Courtney, who has managed only half a game since arriving at the club from Kidderminster Harriers in May.

“I’m really pleased to be able to bring Liam in on loan,” Tranmere boss Les Parry told BBC Sport. “As we saw on Tuesday, he’s a talented young defender and I’m grateful to Leeds and Simon Grayson for allowing him to join us for a month.”

The England under-17 international originally progressed through the Academy at Elland Road and spent past of last season on loan at Rotherham United.
