Only two clubs still boast a 100% record after the first week of the season, with Luton Town currently leading the way following a comfortable 3-0 victory at ten-man Fleetwood Town. Matthew Barnes-Homer, Claude Gnakpa and substitute Tom Craddock were each on target, while the hosts had Paul Linwood sent-off just before half-time.

AFC Wimbledon recorded the same scoreline at home to Tamworth as striker Danny Kedwell scored twice and made a third for Sammy Moore in a 3-0 win – to make it nine out of nine for the Dons.

Big-spending Crawley Town claimed their first victory of the season through a Steven Masterton free-kick just past the hour in a narrow 1-0 success at Altrincham.

Newcomers Grimsby Town crashed 2-1 at home to Hayes & Yeading United after Alan Connell’s last-minute goal proved only a consolation for the Mariners. Jamie Hand and Bradley Pritchard had earlier put the visitors firmly in charge.

Eastbourne Borough eventually came out on top in a seven-goal thriller against Wrexham at Priory Lane. Richard Pacquette, Gary Elphick and two Simon Weatherstone penalties – the second of which was in the final minute – did the business in a 4-3 triumph for the home side, against a brace from Christian Smith and one from Marvin Andrews.

Mansfield Town rallied superbly to win 3-1 at Kidderminster Harriers, who opened the scoring through a Tom Shaw penalty before Luke Medley, Paul Connor and Paul Duffy replied.

Histon also recovered well after Danny Rose and Robbie Matthews opened up a two-goal lead for hosts Newport County. Romone McCrae began their fightback before Ernan Okay added a second in a battling 2-2 draw in South Wales.

Forest Green Rovers and Gateshead shared a 1-1 draw at the New Lawn with Reece Styche and Gary Mulligan their respective scorers. But the hosts should still have won it when Ian Herring missed a late penalty.

Rushden & Diamonds currently find themselves bottom of the table after striker Jason Walker earned Barrow a first win of the season, courtesy of two goals in seven minutes at Holker Street. His second came from the penalty spot after the visitors had Jamie Stuart sent-off in a 2-0 defeat.

The remaining two games – Cambridge v Southport and Kettering v Darlington – both finished scoreless.
