Former skipper Simon Heslop has told hometown club York City that he no longer wants to play for them.

The 30-year-old midfielder scored eight goals in 69 appearances since arriving from Wrexham in June 2016. Those included him lifting the FA Trophy at Wembley eleven months later.

However, Heslop, an ever-present this season, was left out by manager Martin Gray as the Minstermen secured a first win in four games by overcoming play-off rivals Curzon Ashton 2-1 at the weekend.

That was sufficient to move them back up to sixth place in the table.
