Martin Foyle was delighted after watching his York City side confirm their place in the end-of-season play-offs with a scintillating exhibition of attacking football against AFC Wimbledon at Bootham Crescent.

The Minstermen easily swept aside the challenge of their main play-off rivals with a glorious five-star performance as leading scorer Richard Brodie helped himself to a hat-trick, while his strike partner Michael Rankine added a brace.

“The front two were unstoppable starting off from the kick-off when Michael Rankine scored in the opening minute,” a thrilled Foyle told The Press

“It`s a magnificent achievement to get into the play-offs and anything can happen in those games,” he added.

“The likes of Oxford and Luton will be under immense pressure at home.”

Rampant York were already four goals ahead at the break after Brodie grabbed his second hat-trick of the campaign, two of which came from the penalty spot, to reach the magical thirty for the season.

The recalled Rankine had earlier given them the lead on just 32 seconds before adding his second after the break.
