York City manager Martin Foyle was understandably disappointed following the 1-1 draw with struggling Tamworth at Bootham Crescent.

After successive home defeats to lower ranked opposition it was important that the Minstermen returned to winning ways in front of their own supporters.

But a late equaliser from ex-York defender Chris Smith eventually denied them victory to leave Foyle reflecting on further lost points.

“Disappointing result,” he told BBC Radio York. “I think I was more disappointed with the performance in the first-half.

“The second-half was a lot, lot better and really we should have won the game because there was a blatant penalty on Richard Brodie.”

Defender Luke Graham scored his first goal for York just before the hour and he received special praise from Foyle.

“Personally I thought him and James Meredith were the best players on the pitch by a long shot today,” he continued.

“There was a few disappointing performances. It’s easy to criticse after the game, but if we want to go where we want to go then we have got to be better than that.

“To be honest it was poor defending and then in the second-half after we had a good moan at half-time, I thought we came out with a spring in our step and we started to push forward.

“We had the wind behind our backs and I thought we played some good stuff and maybe should have won the game.”
