Misfiring striker Michael Gash has been confirmed as released by York City, who have also allowed Andy McWilliams, on loan Will Hatfield and trialist Papa Agyemang to leave the club.
“We had an option on Michael Gash that has not been taken up so he is no longer a York City player” – Gary Mills |
Gash, 24, has struggled to make any real impression since arriving from Ebbsfleet United in a £55,000 deal two years ago. He spent the second-half of last season on loan at Rushden & Diamonds.
“We had an option on Michael Gash that has not been taken up so he is no longer a York City player,” manager Gary Mills told The Press. “Andy McWilliams has also been released but George Purcell is still under contract for another year. Will Hatfield has returned to Leeds, where he has a year left to run on his contract.”
Meanwhile, Mills has not ruled out a deal for on loan Leicester City striker Ashley Chambers: “I spoke to Ash about the possibility of a new deal,” he added. “We will look to sit down again and perhaps negotiate something in July.”
But decisions still need to be made regarding nine out-of-contract players at Bootham Crescent. Neil Barrett, Chris Carruthers, Leon Constantine, Liam Darville, David Knight, Levi Mackin, David McDermott, Michael Rankine and Peter Till all currently await their fate.
