Gary Mills says the re-signing of defender James Meredith is a massive boost for the club.
“Kilmarnock have offered him a contract and numerous others showed interest in him, but he’s stayed at York” – Gary Mills |
The 23-year-old Australian turned down SPL outfit Kilmarnock and significant interest from the Football League to sign a new one-year deal at Bootham Crescent.
“I think it’s massive. He’s a massive part of my plans for next season,” a delighted Mills told BBC Radio York. “I wanted James Meredith and sometimes you have to work that little bit harder to get the player that you want.
“He’s improved immensely, I feel – certainly since I’ve been at the club since last October,” he continued. “I’m absolutely delighted to say that a Scottish Premier League club in Kilmarnock have offered him a contract and numerous others showed interest in him, but he’s stayed at York.”
