Coventry City’s new manager Mark Robins was expecting a difficult challenge when visiting York City in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday evening.

The Sky Blues have already started to show clear signs of improvement since the appointment of the former Barnsley and Rotherham United boss last month.
The visitors arrive at Bootham Crescent unbeaten in their last three games and with a narrow victory over fellow League One strugglers AFC Bournemouth to their credit at the weekend.
Even so, Robins was anticipating stern opposition to be provided by the recent Football League returnees in what will be the first meeting between the two clubs in over half-a-century.
“We are going to a place which can be best described as a traditional football ground,” Robins warned Coventry’s official website. “The dressing rooms aren’t the biggest and they’re a bit like concrete cells.
“But it is a good football club so we have to go there and know what to expect,” he continued. “I don’t think many of our players have played there before so they should be aware of it.
“They like to play it around and at the end of the day, the pitch is flat and the grass is green so there won’t be any excuses for not getting a positive result.”
