Bath City manager Adie Britton was looking forward to the challenge of facing York City at Twerton Park this weekend.

His club are back in the top flight of non-league football after a thirteen-year absence and will be meeting the Minstermen for the first time in their history.

And they have started rather well on their return with a midweek victory over last season’s play-off semi-finalists Rushden & Diamonds following on from their narrow opening day defeat at Hayes & Yeading.

“We’re looking forward to the game, they’re one of the best sides in it, and you want to measure yourselves against the best and if we could just get something out of it that would be most pleasing,” he told BBC Somerset.

“There’s plenty of appetite for the game in my dressing room, I’ve got a lot of lads who want to get back into full-time football.

“I think we can bridge the gap between part-time and full-time fitness, because most of the lads are training another couple of days by themselves.”
