Luton Town have confirmed that no further action will be taken against them following the crowd trouble that marred their play-off semi-final defeat to York City last season.

In a statement released through their official website the club said: ‘Following a full and thorough investigation, The FA proposes that no further action is to be taken against Luton Town in relation to this particular incident.

‘Whilst this announcement vindicates the safety and security operation that was undertaken by the Club, prior to and on the day of the game, it does not disguise the fact that the behaviour of a number of supporters on that day was not acceptable in any way.’

The statement went on to add: ‘We are committed to ensuring that Kenilworth Road is a safe and welcoming place for all supporters and will continue our stance of identifying, and taking action against, any individual whose actions seek to undermine our position.’

However, York have raised a number of issues with the FA following what they describe as an “unjust” decision and are currently awaiting a response.
