Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr has reacted to comments made earlier this week about some of his departed players being ‘messed about’ at Aggborough Stadium.

Burr has overseen a massive overhaul of his squad during the summer and will bring a much-changed group of players to Bootham Crescent for the opening game of the season this weekend.

Once there he will come up against a couple of his former charges, Duane Courtney and David McDermott, who have both joined York during the close-season.

“I’ve read this week about players being messed about … nobody has been messed about at this football club,” Burr told Kidderminster’s official website. “The reality of it is that we have had to put a squad of players together that the club can afford and that is exactly what we’ve done.

“I’m not too bothered about comments that have been made but sometimes players think the game owes them a living and one or two have had a reality check this summer,” he continued.

“But we’ll get on with things – we’ve worked hard this week and we’ve watched York a lot over the last three weeks and we’ll be ready.”
