York City Futsal are now six games with a victory after a 3-0 defeat to Cambridge United at the University of Cambridge Sports Centre.

Their opponents therefore maintain an excellent run that has seen them remain unbeaten in their last eight games.

Monty Bouttell gave them an early lead when set up by Vitalii Burnus before Angel Martinez added another after Paulo Rodrigues’ fierce effort came back off the bar.

The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession following the interval, but it was Bouttell still claiming his second of the contest with a smart finish into the far corner.

It means York slip to ninth in the National Super League table after Manchester edged a 7-6 thriller at Loughborough. The Minstermen are scheduled to host Manchester at the YorkSport Arena next Sunday.

Elsewhere, FC Salisbury United drew 4-4 at home to Birmingham, while Tranmere Rovers finally earned their first win of the season in the basement battle at London Genesis; Tom Bateman (2), Jordan Deer (2) and Ignacio de León on target in a 5-2 scoreline.

Leaders Reading Escolla’s fixture with London City was postponed.
