York City’s Under-18s celebrated a narrow 1-0 victory at Doncaster Rovers in the Youth Alliance League North East on Saturday.
Josh Berry scored their winner on the hour-mark, although Elliot Wilson and Cameron Barnett both went close at the other end.
And the visitors also required goalkeeper Ryan Whitley – back from a recent loan spell at Whitby Town – to save a late Matty Overton penalty.
Rovers are managed by former York Wembley-winning skipper Paul Stancliffe.
