York City have released defender Jamal Fyfield and midfielder Craig Clay by mutual consent.
Fyfield made 96 appearances after arriving from Maidenhead United in September 2010. He scored six times, including on his debut in a 3-1 victory at Tamworth, and featured as a late Wembley substitute in the FA Trophy final triumph over Newport County in May 2012.
But he has found opportunities limited under Nigel Worthington with only a handful of games this season. The 24-year-old is now expected to join Conference Premier side Grimsby Town and could be involved for their visit to Forest Green Rovers tomorrow evening.
Meanwhile, Clay is another failing to establish himself since joining from Chesterfield last summer. He managed only ten appearances, with the latest being the FA Cup first round replay defeat to Bristol Rovers in November.
