Nigel Worthington wants York City to maintain their winning mentality following a third consecutive victory at Northampton Town.

“We must try to keep that momentum and endeavour and winning mentality there” – Nigel Worthington

Strikes Ryan Bowman and Wes Fletcher once again fired the goals in a 2-0 win to lift the Minstermen further towards mid-table. York are now actually closer to the play-offs than the bottom of the table.

“Before the game you think ‘come away with a point at least – from here it is a good result’ but I am delighted to get all three. They deserve it,” Worthington told The Press. “I thought we had a good shape about us, a good solidness, which is important. We must keep that.

“If we can pick another three points up in front of our own supporters next week, who knows where that will take us?,” he asked. “Three wins on the bounce is very good at any level of football and we must try to keep that momentum and endeavour and winning mentality there.”

Resurgent York host struggling Bristol Rovers at the weekend and will be looking for revenge following a couple of earlier losses this season.
