Released York City defender Jamal Fyfield has joined Conference Premier side Grimsby Town until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old left-back was allowed to leave Bootham Crescent after making 96 appearances following his arrival from Maidenhead United in September 2010.

However, Fyfield has managed only five games this season and hasn’t actually featured since the FA Cup first round replay defeat to Bristol Rovers in November.

The London-born defender now links up again with ex-City quartet Scott Kerr, Patrick McLaughlin, Alex Rodman and Chris Doig at Blundell Park, and could be involved against Forest Green Rovers tomorrow night.
