Former York City defender Andy McMillan has been named as the new assistant manager at National League North rivals Alfreton Town.

The 49-year-old will be working alongside newly-appointed one-time Lincoln City boss Chris Moyses and new coach Lee Beevers.

That follows the departure of ex-Harrogate Town assistant manager John McDermott earlier this week.

South African-born right-back McMillan made 492 senior appearances in more than a decade of wonderful service at Bootham Crescent.

He later held both Academy Manager and youth development coaching roles within the club, while also having similar spells at Grimsby Town, Notts County, Barnet, Lincoln and Hull City.

Alfreton are currently eighteenth in the table and just a single-point above the relegation zone.
