Former York City trialist Dominic Knowles fired neighbours Harrogate Town to promotion into the National League with a comprehensive 3-0 play-off final victory against Brackley Town at the CNG Stadium.

The 26-year-old opened their account from the penalty spot after a handball inside the area, before, and having already missed another great opportunity, hooking in his nineteenth goal of the season ahead of the interval.

Harrogate had already lost the services of one-time York target Mark Beck, and then witnessed ex-Bootham Crescent loanee Jake Wright carried off on a stretcher.

However, Joe Leesley later made the contest safe from Ryan Fallowfield’s pass following an individual break by substitute Lloyd Kerry.

Former City centre-back John McCombe was another included within their starting ranks in front of a 3,000 attendance.
