York City manager Martin Foyle was naturally disappointed, but preferred to look ahead following the 1-1 draw with bottom club Grays Athletic.

The visitors snatched an unlikely point courtesy of a last-minute equaliser after Richard Brodie had opened the home account early in the second-half.

Grays were earlier reduced to ten-men when their goalkeeper Glyn Garner was sent-off for bringing down Brodie, whose penalty was in turn saved by substitute goalkeeper Preston Edwards.

“It was disappointing, especially when they went down to ten men,” Foyle told BBC Radio York. “We got the penalty, took the lead, I couldn’t really see them scoring, couldn’t really see them creating.

“We were off the pace a little bit. This game was a hard one. I think people expected a lot of goals going into the play-offs,” he added.

The Minstermen’s inability to see out the game, combined with Rushden & Diamonds’ narrow victory at Wrexham, meant that the two clubs exchanged places once again in the table, and left York now looking at a potential play-off semi-final with Luton Town.

“Disappointing, but we’re in the play-offs and in a fantastic position. I think people are trying to earmark do we play Oxford, do we play Luton? They’re both fantastic sides and whoever we play we’re going to be giving them a hard game, but vice versa,” continued Foyle.

“There was a lot of negativity today and I’m not happy with it. We didn’t put on a good performance, but give us a bit of support. They’ve had a fantastic season, we’re well above where we wanted to be and let’s make sure we are right and looking forward to it.”
