Clovis Kamdjo scored his second goal since returning to action as York City’s reserves went down to a late 2-1 defeat to Hartlepool United at Victoria Park.

The 27-year-old midfielder was continuing his comeback in defence having previously been sidelined for around fifteen months with cruciate ligament damage.

However, the hosts were to take a first-half lead through Brooklyn Miller, only for the Cameroon-born enforcer to cancel it out when heading in Zac Lawrence’s corner prior to the break.

But Josh Bayne went on to snatch a winner deep into added time to extract some revenge for a 5-2 defeat in the reverse fixture only last month – that after Flynn McNaughton had already seen an effort ruled out at the other end.

City’s young side included only a couple of other players with first-team starts in former Pools winger Connor Smith and St Kitts & Nevis international midfielder Theo Wharton.

The remainder comprised of youth-team members against similarly youthful opponents.
