Massive week approaches for Foyle

York City boss Martin Foyle will be just glad to get the club’s final game of the season at champions Stevenage Borough out of the way this weekend.

Once that has been done the former Port Vale supremo can turn his attentions fully to the real matter-in-hand – a two-legged play-off showdown with either Luton Town or Oxford United starting next week.

“It’s an awkward one because we can look at it from so many different angles,” Foyle told bluesqfootball.com. “But we’re just going to play a game of football. We need a game, obviously it’s party time for them. But the result doesn’t really matter either way, we just need a good game of football and to start getting prepared for next Thursday.”

The Minstermen still don’t actually know who they will be facing in the semi-final at Bootham Crescent, but the York boss was anticipating a tough clash either way.

“It could be any outcome. We know we haven’t got Rushden, so we’ve got one of the quality two sides of Oxford or Luton – which is very, very hard,” he added.

“But from my point of view, I’m delighted we’re at home first. Then we go to either Luton or Oxford in the second-leg, and they will be under immense pressure at home. I’d rather have it that way if you want the truth.”

Both legs of the semi-final will be all-ticket, with the first at York next Thursday (29th April – kick-off 7.45pm) and the second on Bank Holiday Monday (3rd May – kick-off 3pm).
