York City Ladies defeated Doncaster Belles 4-3 in their pre-season friendly at the weekend.

Jazz Whitwell struck the winner after earlier goals from trialist Nat Eustance – her second in two games, Kelly Chesterton and last season’s leading scorer for the reserves, Rachel Harding.

The Minsterbelles are back in action when hosting Women’s Premier League Northern Division One side Middlesbrough Ladies on Wednesday evening, kick-off 7.00pm.

They follow that by welcoming Premier League Northern Division outfit Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, with a 2.00pm kick-off at York St John’s Sports Complex, Haxby Road. There’s also an earlier meeting of their respective reserve teams (11.30am).

These games should prove really decent pre-season tests for fifth-tier City Ladies against clubs currently competing in the two divisions immediately above them in the football pyramid.
