Newcomers are continuing to lead the way in the goalscoring stakes following York City’s morale-boosting weekend 3-0 victory at Newport County.

The Minstermen never looked back after their attack-minded midfielder James Berrett lashed in a top-class finish for his third goal in eight games.

Striker Reece Thompson soon joined him on that total with another terrific close-range effort, and is rapidly developing into the predatory marksman the club have been lacking.

And every York fan was especially delighted to witness fellow forward Vadaine Oliver then grabbing his first goal for the club after the two goalscorers had neatly combined – just reward for a number of hard-working displays already.
