Former Wembley winner and terrace hero Andy McMillan has expressed a definite interest in becoming the next manager of York City.

The Minstermen will begin the process next week of finding a successor to Martin Foyle, who resigned from the post yesterday.

And 42-year-old McMillan, who is currently working as the assistant head of youth at Lincoln City, is keen to return to his former club, for whom he made 492 appearances in a dozen seasons at Bootham Crescent between 1987-99.

“I`d be extremely interested in the job,” McMillan confirmed to The Press. “It`s always been a passion of mine to come back at some point and this would be a fantastic opportunity. I feel I am the right age and I want the challenge to get York City back where they should be.

“I played at the club for a number of years and know what it`s all about and what the fans want – they want good attractive football,” he continued. “I`ve completed my ‘A` licence and feel I can bring something to the job now.”
