Significant net gain for Till

With three goals already to his credit this term, Peter Till has set himself an initial target of ten for this season.

The former Walsall forward added his third of the campaign at Wrexham following earlier strikes against Bath City and Rushden & Diamonds as the Minstermen improved their overall record to only one defeat in seven games.

Till’s own sequence of late is in marked contrast to his previous efforts when he went 57 games without hitting the back of the net during barren spells at Walsall, Chesterfield and Grimsby Town.

“The gaffer has given me more licence to go forward than I had at my last club, where the emphasis was on defending and, thankfully, I am repaying him with goals,” he told The Press.

“It`s all about positive thinking. My target is ten for the season and, if I get to that, I will take things from there,” added Till. “I believe I can score in every game I play and that every shot is going to go in. That`s a new feeling for me to be honest and that`s good for me and the team.

“Wingers and strikers rely on confidence and mine is sky high. I just want to keep being positive and giving the full-backs I am up against problems.”
