Forgotten man Richard Pacquette still believes he can play a significant part in York City’s much-anticipated climax to the season, despite being restricted to only a couple of league starts.

The 27-year-old has actually netted four times in five starts and thirteen substitute appearances for the Minstermen since joining them last summer.

But most of the time he has been selected behind the likes of Richard Brodie, Michael Rankine and Michael Gash, and handed only an occasional supporting role.

However, Dominican international Pacquette is something of a ‘cup knockout’ specialist, with vital late strikes for York in the FA Cup against Crewe Alexandra and FA Trophy against Newport County, and even more famously for Havant & Waterlooville against Liverpool at Anfield.

“I`ve enjoyed it here even though it`s been a bit difficult for me. I started the season suspended, then I got injured and, during that time, the team did well in my absence,” he told The Press.

“I`ve played a bit part really but all the boys are great and I still believe I can have a role in the promotion push. I prepare the same for every game as if I am going to be playing so, hopefully, if I get a chance I will take it,” Pacquette continued.

“I do thrive on the big occasion and enjoy playing in the big games. Every time I step on to a pitch I feel like I`m going to score. That`s my mentality and it doesn`t change if I`m on the bench.”

Vital Fact: Richard Pacquette scored on his international debut for Dominica in a 1-1 draw against Barbados in a World Cup qualifier in Feb 2008.
