New midfielder Alex Pattison insists players just need to believe in themselves in order to start winning regularly.

The 20-year-old Middlesbrough loanee received an immediate debut as current holders York exited the FA Trophy at the weekend following a 2-1 defeat to Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough Stadium.

“Throughout the whole second-half we dominated the game,” Pattison told BBC Radio York. “If we started off like that there’s no doubt we would have won the game.

“It’s more just the belief of the players,” he added. “We know we’ve got a good team. I’ve been here for the week and know what this side’s capable of. We just need to have that belief.

“I think this is a stepping-stone, really. The second-half, if we carry on like that throughout the games we’ll start winning games. We’ve got a great set of players, there’s no doubt about that.”
