Weekend action from the Vanarama National League as York City suffer a disastrous second consecutive relegation following a 2-2 draw with Forest Green Rovers at Bootham Crescent.

The Minstermen made the worst possible start in their final ‘must-win’ game when Dan Wishart burst past Asa Hall and presented German striker Omar Bugiel with the opportunity to finish into the corner.

However, York were on level terms when skipper Simon Heslop seized upon possession and released unmarked leading goalscorer Jon Parkin to joyously side-foot wide of Sam Russell.

But Rovers were back in front straight from the restart, Fabien Robert allowing the clinical Bugiel to poke in his second without their opponents even managing to touch the ball.

There was sudden renewed hope for the hosts early in the second-half when former Rovers marksman Parkin smartly doubled his tally after Sam Muggleton’s long throw was played back across by Amari Morgan-Smith.

That was sufficient to lift them back out of the relegation, at least until rivals Guiseley dramatically snatched a last-minute equaliser against Solihull Moors, which resulted in only a stunned eerie silence at the final whistle.

Results: Aldershot 2-0 Braintree; Barrow 2-3 Dover; Chester 0-2 Boreham Wood; Dagenham 1-1 Woking; Eastleigh 1-1 Wrexham; Gateshead 0-2 Bromley; Guiseley 1-1 Solihull Moors; Macclesfield 0-1 Sutton; Maidstone 0-0 Tranmere; Southport 1-1 Lincoln; Torquay 2-0 North Ferriby; York City 2-2 Forest Green
