Another late concession means that York City’s promotion hopes are all but over as visitors Leamington secured their own National League North status following a 2-2 draw at Bootham Crescent.
The Minstermen trailed at the interval when their young striker Alex Kempster stabbed Jack Edwards’ 43rd minute free-kick into his own net.
But captain Sean Newton crashed in an early second-half equaliser after Aidan Connolly was initially denied by goalkeeper Tony Breeden.
And the emergency striker then moved into double-figures for the season when Breeden could only parry a fierce 86th-minute drive from the marauding Adriano Moke.
However, York faltered again in the final minute as substitute Matt Dodd outjumped David Ferguson and headed into the far corner.
