York City Futsal are almost safe in the National Super League having comfortably disposed of relegation rivals Tranmere Rovers 5-0 at the YorkSport Arena last weekend.
The Minstermen were always in firm control and decisively raced into a three-goalĀ interval lead.
Oliver Toseland gave them the perfect start with an excellent finish before Jamie Bettson turned in a cross delivered towards the far post by his brother Robbie.
Alex McDowell went onto to volley a crucial third goal, again from Robbie Bettson’s inviting assist, while England Under-19 international Michael Bulmer and skipper Fabinho Almeida added to those following the break.
York now have a clear six-point lead over second-bottom Tranmere, who must comprehensively win both of their remaining two games while hoping their rivals lose heavily.
