Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson was understandably delighted after his side completed a surprise league double over York City at Priory Lane.

Two goals from striker Andy Atkin added to Matt Crabb’s opener, and although Michael Rankine pulled one back from the penalty spot just before the break, the home side held firm during the second-half.

“It was a big part of the team talk to get at them early and pin them back in,” Wilson told the Sussex Argus.

“We won the toss and decided to go with the wind, which was positive,” he added.

“The first-half was excellent. We could have been 4-0 up and Knowlesy did not have a save to make (from open play).

“The guys worked really hard on set-pieces on Thursday. We knew they were assets and they came up with the goals.”
