York City Ladies bid to avenge a narrow defeat from their opening away game of the season when hosting RACA Tynedale Ladies at Haxby Road on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2.00pm).

The Minsterbelles lost to a solitary finish from home substitute Natasha Wilson despite being forced to include centre-back Gemma Croft as an emergency goalkeeper.

Her new defensive partner Laura Midgley also suffered a broken metatarsal on that occasion, while Nikki Brown [quad] and Beth Clayton [knee] similarly picked up knocks.

However, City Ladies are currently unbeaten in their last two games, starting with a 1-1 draw against newcomers Farsley Celtic, in which Midgley struck her first goal since arriving from Bradford City in the summer.

That was then followed by a 2-1 League Cup success over Bolton CA Villa, striker Lucy Lendhill with both goals after the hosts had once again fallen behind.

Those had come after successive defeats to the two leading clubs in the North East Regional Premier League, Durham Cestria and Norton & Stockton Ancients.

Tynedale arrive on the back of consecutive away league reversals to an increasingly capable Hartlepool United (2-7) and traditionally powerful Norton & Stockton (1-5), having earlier thrashed visitors Castleford White Rose 7-2 in their previous game.

Megan Bramham scored a combined four times against Tynedale last season

But Dale notably achieved an impressive double against City last season despite then leading goalscorer Megan Bramham plundering a total of four goals across the two meetings.

There are only a couple of other weekend games, but both feature the current bottom two clubs in the division as Castleford host Norton & Stockton and Wakefield travel to Farsley.

The Belles still have a clear advantage over that pair and are currently due to entertain winless Wakefield in a real six-pointer the following weekend.

Perhaps significantly they are also yet to play their West Yorkshire neighbours away, but have already twice accounted for fellow strugglers Castleford back in November.
