York City have signed teenage Blackburn Rovers midfielder Michael Potts.

The nineteen-year-old is described as a no-nonsense performer who likes to tackle but can also weigh in with important goals.

After being a member of Rovers’ Academy under-18 squad that made the FA Youth Cup semi-finals, Potts progressed into their reserve side last term after being included in their senior squad during pre-season. He scored three times in fourteen starts for the second-string at Ewood Park.

Potts was formerly at Manchester United and becomes the sixth new arrival at Bootham Crescent over the summer following Ashley Chambers, Liam Henderson, Matty Blair, Paul Musselwhite and Jason Walker.
