A strong York City reserve side made it through to the North Riding Senior Cup final, but only after a penalty shoot-out ended 4-2 in their favour at Northallerton Town on Wednesday evening.

The tie finished 3-3 after Kevin Gall, Alex Lawless and Michael Rankine earned the visitors the lead on three separate occasions.

Goalscorer Rankine, Levi Mackin, Dominic Brown and Richard Pacquette were then all successful from the penalty spot for the Minstermen, who also included the likes of David McGurk, Danny Parslow, Chris Carruthers and Adam Smith within their ranks.

York will now take on Stokesley in the final after they disposed of current holders Middlesbrough.
