York City Ladies signed-off their home league campaign in appropriate style with a thumping 11-1 victory against Wallsend BC Ladies at Haxby Road on Sunday afternoon.

That was sufficient to raise their overall tally to an incredible twenty-four goals in their last couple of home fixtures  having also put thirteen without reply past bottom club Wakefield a fortnight ago.

The Minsterbelles still remain sixth in the table but now only a couple of points behind RACA Tynedale – and with a single game in hand.

York were able to name a strong starting line-up against struggling opponents and proceeded to score five times ahead of the interval.

Striker Lucy Lendhill led the way with a personal five-goal haul and also missed a penalty, while Megan Bramham collected a hat-trick – her first goals since November.

Teenager Anna Whitehead impressively added another couple to her own tally,  now standing at five since moving up from the reserves at the start of the season; with returning left-back Helen Winterburn maintaining her recent comeback by claiming a second goal in three games.

However, midfielder Nikki Brown was once again named as player of the match after contributing a number of assists.

Skipper Samantha Deverdics replied from the penalty spot for the visitors during the opening forty-five minutes.

The Belles still have a couple of league games remaining with scheduled visits to title-favourites Norton & Stockton Ancients and Farsley Celtic yet to come.

And Farsley achieved a notable 2-1 success elsewhere at high-flying Hartlepool United, to continue their own successful first season at the higher level.
