Former York City striker Rhys Turner is amongst eight players released by League Two club Morecambe.

The 22-year-old scored once in ten appearances for the Minstermen having arrived on loan from Oldham Athletic in September 2015. He also includes spells with Stockport County and Macclesfield Town.

The Shrimps have similarly freed Michael Rose, Dean Winnard, Steven Yawson, Reece Deakin, Patrick Brough, Adam McGurk and Luke Jordan.

Morecambe only narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the season due to having a slightly better goal-difference than Barnet.
