York City Reserves turned it around with a 3-2 victory against Doncaster Rovers in Central League North at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday afternoon.

The visitors soon went ahead as Jacob Fletcher converted from the spot on nineteen minutes after Josh Rogerson had tripped Rieves Boocock.

Home keeper Ryan Whitley then kept out Rovers’ trialist forward and Myron Gibbons promptly lifted the rebound high.

Flynn McNaughton threatened at the opposite end but keeper Louis Jones hurried out to meet the danger, while Whitley blocked from Gibbons after goalscorer Fletcher had already curled over.

And Whitley once again rescued his side with a fine stop from Gibbons ahead of the interval, before the visitors’ trialist nodded wide upon the restrt.

But Josh Berry equalised from the spot on 52 minutes after Aston Harrison had been fouled, and moments later McNaughton drove a low second from around twenty-five yards.

Berry struck another effort wide after Whitley frustrated Boocock, although Rovers had an opportunity to equalise from their second penalty but Fletcher was denied by Whitley.

York’s substitute keeper Joe Wilton immediately replaced injured left-back Jake Watson and was stationed up front in a personnel reshuffle.

However, it was McNaughton grabbing his second of the contest when converting Harry Thompson’s pass inside the area with eleven minutes remaining.

Rovers reacted and their trialist struck a post after rounding Whitley before then pulling a late goal back with five minutes remaining.
