George Purcell is back and raring to go following a nightmare first season at Bootham Crescent.

“I have lost a lot of weight and I am hoping to show him what I am all about” – George Purcell

The 23-year-old arrived from Braintree Town last summer but suffered a serious ankle injury which kept him sidelined for almost six months.

When he returned he was sent out on loan to both Dartford and Eastbourne Borough in a bid to gain him fitness.

“I had a bad season last year and I just didn`t want to come back being unfit,” Purcell told The Press. “Now, hopefully, I will get a chance.

“The gaffer has not really seen me play, apart from the pre-season games so far this season, so hopefully I have come back a lot fitter,” he added. “I have lost a lot of weight and I am hoping to show him what I am all about.

“I just want to score goals. Coming from Braintree, I scored a few goals there and I feel I can bring a lot of goals to the team.”
