Manager Martin Gray insists it’s business as usual going into Tuesday evening’s meeting with Southport at Bootham Crescent.

The Minstermen must forget off-the-field issues following the club being up for sale last week, and instead concentrate on improving their play-off standing against opponents who could yet replace them in the top seven.

“It’s business as normal,” Gray told BBC Radio York. “We’re here to gain promotion. I’ve been told [by the chairman] to focus on my job and to get promotion – to have something to enjoy at the end of the season. And that’s our aim. There’s no point making a mountain out of a molehill, we are where we are.

“The chairman’s made it quite clear of how he sees things and we’ve got to get on with our business,” he stressed

Having been inactive at the weekend, York actually slipped a place in the table while their latest visitors perhaps surprisingly failed to take advantage when losing 3-1 at home to Alfreton Town.

Midfielder Simon Heslop begins a two-match suspension, but is the only absentee.
