The Minstermen are currently seven points clear of sixth-placed AFC Wimbledon, who now appear the only club seriously capable of catching them, with only six games remaining. The Dons visit Bootham Crescent for a potential final showdown in two days time. York returned back to form with a comfortable 4-0 victory at bottom club Grays Athletic last week. Leading marksman Richard Brodie scored twice, while recent signing Paul Harsley and fellow midfielder Neil Barrett were also on target. But they haven’t won at home in the league since mid-January, and have suffered two defeats in their last three games against sides towards the bottom of the table.

Vital Quotes:

“You have to give Altrincham credit for the season they have had,” York boss Martin Foyle told The Press. “I imagine they will come to us with a 3-4-3 formation and it will be up to us to break down their three centre-halves. We will have to be more positive than we were against Tamworth in our last home match.”

York City Team News:

Manager Foyle was expected to choose from a fully-available squad, with centre-back David McGurk possibly set for a recall at the expense of Djoumin Sangare. The French-born defender suffered a slight knee injury in the victory at Grays Athletic, but it isn’t considered serious.
