A third straight home victory will be the incentive for York City when entertaining Hayes & Yeading United at Bootham Crescent this weekend. The Minstermen have continued to improve in front of their own supporters following their shock home defeat to Kidderminster Harriers on the opening day of the season. Since then they have kept three clean sheets in games against Barrow (0-0), Altrincham (3-0) and Rushden & Diamonds (2-0).

By contrast Hayes & Yeading haven’t managed to keep it ‘clean’ for the last six months and have gone a full sixteen games since achieving a shut-out. They currently have the worse defensive record in the division, having already conceded twenty times in eight games. Meanwhile, just a single point from the last fifteen available has left them currently in the relegation zone, despite previously earning an excellent 2-1 victory at Grimsby Town last month.

Vital Quotes:

“We have to get more points on our travels because you can`t win every home game, even though that`s what we try to do,” York boss Martin Foyle told The Press. “Hayes will come 4-5-1 and be defensive minded while also giving us a few problems. We might have to be patient as they will play a similar game to the way Barrow and Altrincham did here. The key is to score the first goal. That`s what you want to do against these types of teams.”

York City Team News:

York are still without a quartet of injured players as Levi Mackin, Chris Carruthers, George Purcell and Djoumin Sangare remain sidelined. Seventeen-year-old Tom Richardson was included on the bench in their latest 1-1 draw at Wrexham, and is expected to again be named amongst their substitutes. Striker Leon Constantine is still waiting for a first start following his recent arrival until the end of the season.
York City (probable): Ingham, Courtney, Parslow, McGurk, Meredith, Smith, Lawless, Barrett, Till, Gash, Rankine
subs: Knight, Young, McDermott, Richardson, Constantine

Player to watch: Peter Till

Scored in each of the last two games and three times already this season despite originally starting the campaign as a substitute.

Hayes & Yeading Team News:

On loan Leyton Orient forward Adrian Patulea is missing as he begins a three-match ban after being sent-off in the defeat at Kidderminster Harriers last week. New signing Liam Enver-Marum is set to be given a debut in his place following his arrival on loan from Crawley Town. Meanwhile, on loan QPR left-back Lee Brown is again ready to deputise for the injured Adam Green. Five-goal top scorer Ben Wright, who was on loan from Peterborough United, recently left the club in order to permanently sign for big-spending Crawley.

Player to watch: Peter Holmes

The visitors’ skipper makes a return to Bootham Crescent following an impressive loan spell there a couple of years ago.
